Gothic Romance

One of the biggest trends for autumn winter 08/09 is the gothic or dark romance trend. There is absolutely no doubt that black is back this year, although I am not really sure it has ever gone away. The new soft gothic or dark romance trend is glamourous and polished. Almost everything is black but interest is added with different textures, layering, sheer and lace fabrics.


At Yves St Laurent- dark hair, dark lips and dark minimalistic clothes were the order of the day.

At Stella McCartney - a sheer black mini dress with a subtle pattern and long boots gave a dark but romantic look.

At Sophia Kokosolaki - Romantic layers of chiffon with swirly designs created a stunning evening dress.

At Luella - the look was almost witch like with short dresses adorned with ribbon and worn with black opaque tights.

At Givenchy - Religious symbol designs in sheer fabric gave a this mini dress a really romantic and gothic feel.

Religious, celtic and other symbols are a great way to add a touch of this seasons gothic trend to a black outfit. Try teaming a long sheer black blouse with black skinny jeans and this Bali Girl necklace.
